Bio
J.E. Lopez is a Filipino-Canadian guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter based in Toronto, whose music grounds itself in the deep tradition of the blues while he carves out his own contribution to its next chapter. Blending the visceral force of classic blues with a deeply expressive musical voice, Lopez channels the city's diverse, multicultural pulse into a sound that is both dynamically powerful and emotionally profound.
In years past, he was the frontman of the award-nominated trio Li’l Blues Pill of London, ON, and represented the Bruce County Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. In 2025, he was the runner up in the annual Toronto Blues Society talent search, and in early 2026 released his first single, a blues-rock reimagining of the Sam and Dave classic, ‘Hold On, I’m Comin’. Always stretching into different sounds as a guitarist, he has supported a range of Toronto artists on stage and in-studio across genres as diverse as folk, reggae, hip-hop, r&b, and roots-rock.
Taking listeners on a musical journey that is fiery one moment and tender the next, he crafts performances that are compelling and intimate, with a sound that simmers with tension and melts into soul.
